Portrait Displays Acquires SpectraCal

Postby TestGoddess » Tue Apr 12, 2016 1:17 pm

Portrait Displays, Inc., a global leader in visual enhancement software applications and middleware solutions for the computer display industry, today announced the acquisition of SpectraCal, Inc., creating a leading end-to-end provider of display control, custom software, and color accuracy-solutions. From factory production to an end-user’s day-to-day viewing experience, Portrait enables color quality on the world’s installed base, as well as future generations, of dynamic displays entering the marketplace.

Wow, huge news. Will CalMan continue to be sold and supported through Portrait Displays, or will SpectraCal continue to operate somewhat independently? What will this mean for ongoing support? Will Portrait Displays continue to be display vendor-agnostic?

Hi Kristen,

Lots of questions! Here are some answers. Please follow up with me if you'd like more detail.

CalMAN is still CalMAN and the main difference you should see now is that with the added resources of Portrait Display we should be ale to support it better.

All of the people you've known for years in Seattle are still here, working the same jobs at the same desks. If you need something, you can reach out to the people you already know.

We know that it's important to you that CalMAN not be captive to a single vendor, and you shouldn't have any worries in that regard.

You'll see changes in the web site over the next few months as we migrate. You'll see changes in the order process immediately, as Portrait Displays processes your credit card instead of SpectraCal, Inc. But the only changes you see in CalMAN should be the changes you've been asking for. Speaking of which, stay tuned here -- CalMAN 5.7 is getting more and more releasable every day, and I think you're going to like it.

This acquisition is only good news for CalMAN users.

As I say, if you have any particular questions or would like to talk, let me know.

L.A.
